Libraries
The Louisville Free Public Library has a multitude of branches spread throughout the city. Those closest to Creekside are:
The Northeast Regional library is the newest library branch in the city and closest to Creekside.
Middletown is farther away, but is open regular library hours. It also has a full range of materials available for all ages.
Parks
There are two large parks within a mile of the City:
E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park is the largest, with a walking trail, archery range, tennis court and swimming pool among its many offerings.
Hounz Lane is one of many City Parks throughout the Louisville metro area. It has facilities for picnicking, including grills and a playground, as well as tennis courts available. Information about other City Parks in Louisville can be found at the Metro Parks website.
Shopping
Westport Plaza, just west of the City on the northwest corner of Westport Road and Hurstbourne Parkway, is anchored by a Kroger grocery store. There are several smaller stores and eateries located in the Plaza, from local independents to national chains.
On the southeast corner of Westport Road and Hurstbourne Parkway is a Walgreens and another small plaza with several stores and eateries, as well as a branch of Hwang's Martial Arts.
To the east of the city are a Michaels Arts & Crafts and The Home Depot in one strip mall, and a Half-Price Books and Pet Smart in another.
Farther east is Springhurst Towne Center, a large shopping area covering several city streets, that includes Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, Office Max, Meijer and Kohl's, among many other smaller stores and eateries.
North of the City, on the corners of Hurstbourne Parkway and Brownsboro Road, are Avish Gardens shopping center at 9440 Brownsboro Rd and Paddock Shops. Avish Gardens is anchored by another Kroger store, as well as a Feeder's Supply, and also contains several smaller stores and eateries. The Summit has many high-end retail shops, as well as a Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and several eateries.
Dining
As has been mentioned, the area is home to many restaurants - from a myriad of fast-food locales to national chains such as Outback Steakhouse, Mitchell's Fish Market, and Bob Evans. Among the more popular local choices are Goose Creek Diner, El Nopal and
The Taj Palace.
Movie Theaters
Only a short distance away, in Springhurst Town Centre, is the Cinemark multi-plex Tinseltown, which shows first run films - including in 3D when available. They also air concerts and other special events, including performances of The New York Metropolitan Opera.
